The property

The Ambay Villa was built as a small resort rather than a hotel — eight rooms, a pool, a lawn and a kitchen on a single plot, so a family or a function can take over the place without coordinating five vendors.

The villa sits on the Amba Mata Ghati road at Dakan Kotra, on the way out of Udaipur. The hills start where the lawn ends, so the first-floor rooms and the lawn both look straight out at open country — the reason most guests pick it over a city hotel at the same tariff.

Rooms run across two floors. Four open on the ground floor, level with the lawn. The four upstairs share a long balcony and corridor facing the hills — worth asking for if the view matters to you. Every room is air-conditioned, with an attached bathroom, hot water, TV and daily housekeeping.

The kitchen is pure vegetarian and handles everything: room service, the Spice Hub restaurant, and food for functions on the lawn or in the banquet hall. Jain food is made on prior request.
